About

Our Mission

The mission of the Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic is to provide affordable pet care for families in the greater DFW area. We are brought together by the common belief that it is our community’s responsibility to help give adequate care and attention to the animals in need of veterinary assistance.

Our Purpose

  • To provide medical treatment for all animals in our care.
  • To aid in the efforts to help reduce the rise in unwanted litters.
  • To aid Legacy Humane Society in funding to build the LHS Adoption Center.
  • To help educate the public on proper animal care and promote routine vaccinations/healthcare and spaying/neutering of all pets.

History and Future Plans for LHVC

The Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic was established in January 2024 by the Board of Directors for the Legacy Humane Society. LHVC was established as Phase 1 of the LHS expansion plans to build an all-encompassing Animal Adoption Center and Veterinary Clinic combination in Phase 2.

Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic provides affordable veterinary care for domestic pets, including low-cost vaccination clinics on the weekends to help protect more animals and prevent the spread of disease in our community. LHVC services include low cost spay/neuter, heartworm prevention/treatment, obstruction removal, amputation, eye enucleation, ear infection treatment, upper respiratory treatment, urinary tract treatment and or bladder stone removal, routine vaccinations, wellness visits and more.

This clinic is much needed due to shelters in the Dallas Fort Worth area operating far beyond capacity. The two primary factors for this influx of unwanted pets are because of the people who are surrendering or abandoning their pets due to financial constraints, or pets having unwanted litters due to lack of affordable spay/neuter options. Our clinic will provide aid in both areas (and beyond), in turn, reducing the number of unwanted pets in the community and helping families keep their beloved pets healthy.

By the fall of 2024, our goal is to extend the hours of operation to four days a week. In one year, our goal is to increase to full time staff working 40 hours a week, five days a week as well as the addition of an additional Veterinarian. Long term goals (2-4 years), the clinic will be open seven days a week with three Veterinarians on staff. We will have an X-Ray machine and the ability to run bloodwork in house. In 2-4 years we plan to increase services to include dentals, fracture repairs and other extensive surgeries we were unable to accomplish without the additional medical equipment on site.

Our clinic also provides low cost spay/neuter and release program for feral cats in the community. This program involves trapping feral and free-roaming cats in humane traps, transporting them to our clinic to be spayed/neutered and ear tipped (this tells anyone else who finds them that they cannot reproduce) and releasing them back into the are they came from or another suitable barn/farming environment with adequate food, water and shelter.

Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic furthers our exempt purposes by providing vital and much needed medical care for animals at a price point that families can afford, while keeping up with our mission and purpose to service the community and beyond.
