About

Our Mission

The mission of the Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic is to provide affordable pet care for families in the greater DFW area. We are brought together by the common belief that it is our community’s responsibility to help give adequate care and attention to the animals in need of veterinary assistance.

Our Purpose

  • To provide medical treatment for all animals in our care.
  • To aid in the efforts to help reduce the rise in unwanted litters.
  • To aid Legacy Humane Society in funding to build the LHS Adoption Center.
  • To help educate the public on proper animal care and promote routine vaccinations/healthcare and spaying/neutering of all pets.

History and Future Plans for LHVC

Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic (LHVC) opened in January 2024 as Phase 1 of the Legacy Humane Society’s plan to build a combined Animal Adoption Center and Veterinary Clinic. LHVC exists to address two primary drivers of shelter overcrowding in the Dallas–Fort Worth area: families surrendering pets due to financial strain and the steady flow of unplanned litters caused by limited access to affordable spay/neuter. By providing low-cost, high-quality veterinary care—and weekend vaccination clinics—LHVC helps families keep beloved pets healthy while preventing disease and unwanted litters community-wide.

Our medical services include low-cost spay/neuter; heartworm prevention and treatment; obstruction removal; amputations; eye enucleations; treatment for ear infections, upper respiratory illness, and urinary/ bladder-stone issues; routine vaccinations; wellness visits; and additional general surgery and medical care as needed. By fall 2024 our goal was to operate four days per week. We surpassed that target in under a year, expanding to full-time service five days a week and adding an additional veterinarian who provides veterinary dentistry, supported by expanded staff.

LHVC also delivers three charitable programs that remove cost as a barrier to care:

  • Angel Care Fund: urgent aid for pets in crisis

  • TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return): humane reduction of community-cat populations

  • Veterinary Assistance Program: support for families facing financial hardship

Over the next 2–4 years, LHVC plans to operate seven days a week with three veterinarians on staff and to bring X-ray and in-house bloodwork to our client’s in addition to other necessary services. We hope to expand our clinic into a larger office space with the addition of the adjoining adoption center and boarding kennels to help more animals and families across North Texas.
